Yariv Feniger
Chair of the Center
Associate Professor at the School of Education at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Chairperson of the Center, and member of the Center’s Board.
The Center for the Study of Pedagogy specialized in building and facilitating academia–field partnerships. These partnerships involved research and development processes that bridged scientific knowledge and academic research expertise with the professional knowledge and practical expertise found in educational settings. The Center’s work enriched the partners’ perspectives, broadened and deepened both professional and academic knowledge, supported the development and design of professional learning and teaching resources, strengthened professional expertise, and fostered mutual learning—contributing to policy change and the advancement of the education profession.
The Center’s team had extensive experience in establishing and sustaining academia–field partnerships, including developing the infrastructure and processes required for collaborative research and development involving partners from academia and educational practice. The team included a CEO, a Director of Development, a Partnerships Manager, a Communications and Knowledge-Sharing Lead, researchers, and an Administrative Coordinator. The professional team organized and supported each partnership, assisting partners in their shared work, knowledge-development processes, the creation of practical outputs, and making these resources accessible.
The Center for the Study of Pedagogy continued the work of the Laboratory for the Study of Pedagogy, led by Dr. Dana Vedder-Weiss and Prof. Adam Lefstein. The Laboratory led research and development processes in educational settings, including work in two educational districts and several professional development organizations. Participants included researchers, district representatives, representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Education’s R&D division, Ministry instructors, and teachers.
